A Warning and a Disclaimer!

Hypnosis is an incredibly powerful tool for change. Because it is so powerful it is wise to consider what you are asking of it. If, for example, as one of my clients once asked, you use hypnosis to stay in a dysfunctional relationship by programming yourself to ignore all the hurtful behavior of the target of your affections, you are likely to waste several years of your life, loving someone who it would have made far more sense to have programmed yourself to bail out from. I would not do what he asked sitting face to face and I certainly do not encourage my readers to undertake such actions on their own

What you do with hypnosis is your choice and your responsibility. I am telling you how to use hypnosis - not what to do with it. I accept absolutely no responsibility for misuse of hypnosis. How did PYOB come about?

I have been fascinated about hypnosis since my earliest childhood. I remember all those little ads in the backs of comic books offering to share the mysteries of hypnosis. I actually read a few things along the way but I really got keenly interested in hypnosis in 1978. At that time I practiced and became really, really skilled at hypnotizing other people but made no progress at all on hypnotizing myself. Along about 1980 I started working on my own hypnosis program. The monumental leap forward was the recognition that almost everything I knew about hypnosis was applicable to self-hypnosis - that I had simply failed to see the connection. Back around 1994 I decided it was time to write the book on hypnosis that I had fantasized about writing for many years. I sat down and wrote the first draft in a couple of weeks and while no literary masterpiece, it was adequate to explain how to do self-hypnosis. Unlike most hypnosis books which required great dedication and self control in order to follow the directions, PYOB was designed for the lazy, the unmotivated, and the easily distracted  - people like me.

By eliminating, as much as possible, the necessity for daily commitments to an arduous self-hypnosis regimen, PYOB greatly increased the proportion of 'normals' likely to benefit from hypnosis. Rather than daily sessions of sitting in a chair and willing oneself into a hypnotic state, PYOB described how to make audio tapes that could be played at bedtime, thereby eliminating almost entirely the barriers most people face in using self-hypnosis for self improvement. PYOB still would not work for people who are too lazy, indifferent, or distracted to make their own tapes, but now I have gone one step further and I am now providing a quick start mp3 audio file so that even the totally inept can benefit from a quick start toward self improvement. If you cannot get it together to make your own induction tape, use my mp3 file. You can also use this file as the induction portion of your own tapes or sound files in the future as well.

What do you get when you buy PYOB?

In a perfect world, I would be incredibly rich and I would give the book away. In fact, the first draft was given away with a modest request for spiritual, moral, or financial support. It did not work out all that well. A lot of people read it, wrote nice emails to me, but very little financial benefit resulted. The book remained in its same, poorly written form because there was little incentive to improve on it. Then, for a while, I made most of the book available, keeping the four most important chapters and appendices for 'registered' users - people who paid a modest amount for the esoteric secrets contained in the chapters on how to make and use self-hypnosis tapes and the appendices with the scripts for such tapes.  This worked out a bit better, generating a modest improvement in fees. In 2004, after finishing my doctoral dissertation, I did a substantial rewrite of the book and changed the distribution method. Instead of providing all but the four sections above, I freely distribute, and encourage the free distribution of the first three chapters, but charge for the complete book. This has worked out a bit better but many people probably read the book and never made any tapes. There is a reason that the self-help section of most bookstores is huge, most people cannot manage to help themselves beyond reading more self-help books, the recommendations of which they never implement. I made an existential choice early on and with the exception of about 4 - 5 self-help books, i simply don't have the patience to read things I know I will never benefit from.

For a long time, I have wanted to be able to offer a quick start to the whole process - an induction track that people can use to get started right away. Problem was that this is a low cost imperative. The home page is on a free site, but that site doesn't have the potential for putting a 70 MB file on it. Now that I have my own webserver I have been able to put the file up and can now make it available.

If You Do Not Hear From Me After Buying the Book or Audio File

I usually turn my responses around within minutes of paypal notifications, certainly within days except in very unusual circumstances, even when I have been travelling internationally... If you have not heard from me the most likely explanation is that my emails from yahoo are being rejected on your end. It doesn't happen too often but when it does it causes big problems. So, if you have used paypal or sent money directly to me and not heard from me within three days, first check your email system because I have probably emailed you and had my email rejected. Try using a different email account or checking that your email system does not restrict incoming yahoo emails. Trust me - it happened...

If You Want to Email Me

If you send me email - use the subject line "hypnosis book". Too much spam and too many viruses out there... Absolutely do not send an email that says "Hi" in the subject line, and of course, don't send an email offering to help remake me physically.

If you send me money in the mail - make sure you send your 'working' email address along with it - even if you have contacted me by email earlier - i don't keep inquiries. I keep the price down by not taking the time to respond by mail so I will not contact you if you forget to include your email.

How Buying PYOB  Work?

I honestly believe that you cannot find a better guide to using hypnosis on yourself  for doing self hypnosis and promoting personal change and growth. Don't kid yourself. PYOB really tells you how to do it and a lot of people thought enough of it to send money after they read it. The reason I won't sell the remaining chapters is not because I don't think they are worth a lot more than the $12.00 I am asking. There are however, people in the universe who enjoy hassling themselves and other people. My policies with regard to the book eliminate almost all such opportunities, but I prefer to do so explicitly. You are buying what you have already read - the first three chapters. In return, totally out of good will, I am giving you the rest of the book.
