HypnoBirthing® teaches techniques to:
* Release all prior conditioning about birthing.
* Trust your body and your baby.
* Address emotional obstacles that lead to pain-causing fear and complicated deliveries.
"Doula Services" The word "Doula", which comes from ancient Greek, refers to a woman trained and experienced in childbirth. A Doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the expectant mother and her partner during labor, delivery, and in the immediate postpartum period.
Studies proven that when Doulas are present at birth, women have shorter labors, fewer medical interventions, fewer cesareans and healthier babies. Recent evidence also suggests that when a Doula provides labor support, women are more satisfied with their experience and the mother-infant interaction is enhanced as long as two months after the birth. With Doula support, fathers tend to stay more involved with their partner rather than pull away in times of stress.
The Doula offers help and advice on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, movement, and
positioning. Doulas attend the entire labor and delivery, and stay for immediate post-partum assistance with lactation support (if or as needed). Doulas specialize in non-medical skills and do not perform clinical tasks. Doulas do not diagnose medical conditions, offer second opinions, or give any medical advice.
* Labor Support *
We have an introductory meeting to see if there is a good fit between client and doula. I explain my services and give the parent an informational paperwork, as well as referrals to other doulas for you to call. I highly recommend interviewing many doulas to see who might have the best approach for you. After that meeting, if there is an agreement made to work together, I meet with you and your partner for a minimum of three times. Along with actual face-to-face meetings, we have as many phone conversations and emails as is needed. I believe in frequent communication between mom and me, so that you gain comfort with me and with using a doula for feedback, support, and friendship.
A basic outline of prenatal sessions:
Birth Plan Session Somewhere around 28-30 weeks we meet to develop the foundation for your birth plan. I send you a birth plan questionnaire ahead of time so that you and your partner can review and discuss preferences. This session usually takes 90 minutes to two hours and can take place wherever you feel the most comfortable. Email and phone calls between us happen a lot!!
Mom to Mom Session This session is designed to give mother and doula time to review birth plan worksheet and answer questions about childbirth. I get to really sit and listen to what you are wanting in your birth. I review the stages of labor and birth (Childbirth Education), and we consider applying your birth plan to that framework.
Comfort Measures Session Mom and partner learn and and practice comfort measures to be used in labor and delivery. Including massage, exercises, breathing, visualizations.
Additional Basic Services

* Belly Art
Pregnancy has moments of feeling fabulous, and moments of feeling utterly invisible. Especially as the last trimester puts more and more physical demands on your body, women often feel their sense of self, who they are, lost.
Reflecting your pregnancy through art is a profound way to have your inner most self heard. The process is therapeutic; the product is a record of your internal world during one of life’s milestones. With birth art, you get to be you. Media include pastels, watercolor, collage, photography, drawing, etc.
Materials provided.
Some clients choose to include the making of a belly mask at the baby shower, or a ceremonial gathering of friends and family.
